As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a grad student. I’m working on my MA in English, and the fall semester started three weeks ago.

Hi, I’m drowning in work. On top of reading a metric crapton of material for three classes (Teaching Composition, Film Theory, and Tolkien), I’m also editing my department’s literary journal this year. Add to that my work as a graduate assistant, the other departmental stuff I have to do, and attempting to have a social life, and the most I’ve done online lately is post to Twitter.

[sigh]

Anyone want to pay me to read books full-time so I can quit school and make it through my To Be Read stack? :D

Speaking of reading, I’ve created a list of my “Read in 2008″ books here on Ye Olde Blogge. For posterity. And geek cred.

Speaking of geek cred, I’m going to get a great birthday present this year. The Dallas Sci-Fi Expo/Star Wars Fan Day falls on my birthday, and OH MY SWEET LORD BRUCE CAMPBELL IS GOING TO BE THERE ON SATURDAY AND THAT’S MY BIRTHDAY AND IT’S BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE! [faints] Jewel Staite is going to be there, too, which would bring my total of Firefly alum met up to two. :D I am so excited, guys. I’m planning out a costume, but I’m kind of torn. I could do Inara Serra really easily, with the garb that I have from ren faires, but I really, really want to go as Lara Croft. So I’m hunting for some leg holsters… yes, I am an enormous dork.
