When I Was Your Age, Television Was Called Books!

Neatorama has an awesome post full of The Princess Bride trivia. That’s one of those movies that I can practically quote from memory, and I had the hugest crush on Cary Elwes for years (Twister pretty much killed that crush dead, though, and really, he hasn’t aged well. [shudder]).

Here’s hoping Neatorama does a post like that for Willow. It came out the year after The Princess Bride, and because I spent most of my late childhood obsessed with both movies, I always associate the two. And Val Kilmer was ridiculously hot as Madmartigan, especially with the long, black hair. Rowr.

Also, Sorsha was one of the main reasons I dyed my hair red when I was 18. Along with Dana Scully, of course. ;)

It just occurred to me that it’s been nearly 21 years since Willow was released. 22 years for The Princess Bride. I think this picture of Madmartigan is the best way to express my feelings about this revelation:

    Wow. 22 years since Princess Bride. That amazes me. Twister killed my Cary crush too. And sometimes when it sneaks back up on me, I watch Ella Enchanted to kill it again. He really hasn’t aged well. But then, neither has Mandy Patinkin. Wallace Shawn, however? Still looks exactly the same! Go Wallace!!

    Willow was great too! I didn’t watch it as much because my sister hated it but hoo boy. Madmartigan was HOT. :)

    I think Wallace Shawn sleeps in a vat of formaldehyde. He does look exactly the same, haha.

    When I was a kid, I would watch Willow so much (and quote along with all of the lines) that my mother threatened to throw the videotape away. I adore that movie. :D

    wow, im only 14 but i was raised on those movies! i love them!! and Madmartigan just takes my breath away with his hotness! Val Kilmer before he got fat, is my major crush!
