Because I Should Be Doing Other Things…

Random linkage! Time to clean out the old Google Reader tab. :D

The greatest knife block EVER. And the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day!

The Book Smugglers review Patricia Briggs’s Bone Crossed, and they’re giving away a copy! Man, I can’t wait to read this one.

In honor of my new job that includes grading papers. Am thinking about printing this out and hanging it in my office.

OHAI! [dies of cute]

New X-Men Origins: Wolverine promo poster. (Is it just me, or is FOX trying for the clunkiest movie title ever?) I’ve gotta say, I love it when Hughverine glowers.

♦ And there’s also this promo image (click for full-size):

I like to call this one the emo poster. I’d make fun of it, but I’m way too distracted by Hughverine’s biceps. GUH.

[shakes self] Ahem. I’m starting to get nervous about the Wolverine movie. They’re apparently doing reshoots in Vancouver right now, and despite Hugh Jackman’s assurances that it doesn’t suck, alarm bells are starting to go off. They’re apparently shooting more scenes with Deadpool (which I have no problem with) and Dom Monaghan’s character Beak (which I’m still trying to figure out; I mean, I know Beak as the dorky chicken boy from Grant Morrison’s run on New X-Men). Maybe the new scenes will fit into the existing story. Maybe the existing story won’t suck ass. I’m just grateful that there’s enough mancandy to make the movie ticket worth it.

♦ And now, because I really do have other things to do, I’ll close this post by teasing you all. I’ll be reviewing Carrie Vaughn’s Kitty Raises Hell very soon, and [drumroll] I’ll be giving away a full set of the Kitty Norville books! So stay tuned, folks. :D

  • I could not have lower expectations for the Wolverine movie, and I imagine those will serve me well.
If any parts of it (besides Hughverine’s arms) don’t totally suck, I’ll be more than pleased.

It helps that there have been enough terrible Wolverine stories over the years that I don’t imagine they’ll ‘ruin’ any sacred cows. It’s not like X3 taking on the Phoenix story and sucking at it.

  • It’s pretty sad that after the X3 fiasco, I’m going into pretty much any FOX action movie with rock-bottom expectations. But yeah, I’m going to see it, but I’ll only expect to enjoy the pretty men and the fanservice characters. If it ends up not sucking or even (gasp!) being good, I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
