Being a dude, the shirtless men thing only really impressed my wife – but overall I liked the movie, and being a dude again, I thought Lynn Collins was great as Silverfox. And I thought Gambit was ptooey, maybe this is a gender bias for us critics? Heh

Either way, I got to see this for free and I wouldn’t pay to see it on my own, Watchmen I did. I think the whole Wolverine storyline was getting stale, and they had a chance to tell us something we didn’t know, and blew it – big time. I did some rough math, Wolverine would be 174 years old today, dude would have to have some awesome stories akin to Highlander, ya know what I’m sayin?

I went in expecting hot men (and this coming from a die hard X-Men/Wolverine fan) and that’s what we got. No complaints about that at all.

We got the same scene at the end you did, Logan in Japan – friend of mine in Wisconsin got Deadpool.

Emma was pretty much a nonentity; she’s only in the very end, and just for a few minutes, so we didn’t get any of her personality (and thank god, none of the angry substitute teacher vibe from those promo vids). I’m not pleased with her character’s “twist.” I won’t give it away, but… eh.

Silver Fox was just… not interesting. The Fanboyfriend, who’s not familiar with X-Men at all, couldn’t figure out why he was supposed to give a crap about their relationship. Bad sign. :\

But yeah, I really liked it. Like I said, I wasn’t expecting some amazing cinematic achievement, just a good time with hot men. And I got exactly what I was expecting. :D

THANK YOU! What Ana said. All the reviews I’ve read for the film have been terrible, so I haven’t really had my hopes too high in terms of another WATCHMEN, totally amazing movie. (Heck ever since the ‘refilming’ or whatever, my hopes have been checked)

But all I expect is a good action movie, with characters I haven’t seen onscreen yet, and fight sequences. Since those worked, and Gambit and Deadpool worked, I’m a happy happy girl! I cannot wait to see this tonight!!!!

So did they botch up Emma Frost? :( It sucks that Silver Fox didn’t work for you….sigh. I’ll just wait and see, I guess!

Hi, hagelrat. I’m pretty good at keeping the movie- and comicverses separate when it comes to X-Men (though for some bizarre reason, Emma’s movie background annoyed the crap out of me), so I wasn’t too miffed that Gambit wasn’t exactly like his comics counterpart. We just didn’t get enough of him for my tastes, heh.

Yeah, I can understand people’s disappointment, but I learned a while ago not to expect amazing things out of film adaptations of my favorite texts [coughHarryPottercough]. So I go in and expect the worst, and when it turns out to not suck, I’m pleased. If it turns out to be amazing, I’m even more pleased. :D
