Drive By Geekery: Non-Spoilery Star Trek Thoughts

startrek-posterI saw Star Trek last night, and HOLY CRAP, that was completely and utterly amazing. The casting was perfect, I love the updated changes to the story, LEONARD NEMOY IS AWESOME, the special effects were beautiful… WOW. I am so pleased. And I really want to see it again, so I can write up a full review. And so I can geek out some more. Several times, I turned to the Fanboyfriend and whispered, “SO COOL,” or some variation on that. “AWESOME.” The movie was so great, it reduced me to Keanu Reeves-esque exclamations. “WHOA.”

I’ve been a Trek fan for… a very long time. My parents watched it when they were kids, and so I grew up on it. I loved The Next Generation and started watching it when it first aired, back when I was in middle school. I latched onto DS9 and watched a whole lot of Voyager when I lived in Germany. I’m not particularly a hardcore fan of the franchise anymore, but I do love it, and I’m very pleased with what J.J. Abrams did with this movie.

Um… when can we expect the sequel? ;)
