Lord Fanny
Lord Fanny, aka CJ, is working on a PhD in Lit with a focus on comics. He learned to read with the Justice League and has considered himself a super-secret unofficial member ever since. His life consists of reading, writing, teaching, and raising/training his son/sidekick. And some TV and videogames… He likes monkeys, ninjas, metafiction, and cowboys, and once swung a baseball bat at a possum, to his everlasting regret. He reviews comics at TDF. LordFanny can be contacted at ninjajester @ hotmail.com.

The Obligatory Intro…
You’d think Robin would know that…
Hi everybody! This is Lord Fanny, and I hope to be your new favorite comic book guy. I’ve read comics all my life, and now I’m working on making them part of my career. I’m currently working on a graduate thesis that focuses on comic book creator Grant Morrison. In order to facilitate that thesis, I’ll probably focus my writing here on Mr. Morrison and his work. But I don’t want that to be the only focus, and I’d love to talk about your favorite comics as well, so please, let me know what you’re reading!
I’m going to attempt to update this section of TDF weekly. I say attempt because I can be incredibly lazy sometimes, with a side of apathetic. It’s one of my more endearing flaws…
The first “official” blog entry should be up by Monday, August 12, and the main focus will be Morrison’s run on Animal Man. If you’re unfamiliar with Morrison, I hope to introduce you to a whole new world of bizarro-alien abduction-parallel reality-chaos magic-drag queen sorceress-metafictional comic book fun. Comic book scribe Tim Callahan has given possibly the best summation of Morrison’s work by comparing him to Alan Moore, author of Watchmen. Callahan says that the major difference between the two is that while Moore is an ironist, Morrison is an absurdist (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=10702). So if you dig Alan Moore but find him to be a bit somber and overly serious sometimes, Morrison may be your cup of tea. Or tab of acid. Your call…
