Indiana Jones 5? Could be.

c41Screencave posted some news about the possible (likely?) fifth Indiana Jones movie, complete with quote from Harrison Ford:
“The story for the new Indiana Jones is in the process of taking form. Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and myself are agreed on what the fifth adventure will concern, and George is actively at work. If the script is good, I’ll be very happy to put the costume on again.”

To be completely honest, I’m not sure how I feel about the idea of another Indiana Jones movie. I mean, I love the series. Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade are two of my all-time favorite movies. And honestly, I didn’t think Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was all that bad. I actually kind of like it.

But… George Lucas is apparently writing the script for the fifth movie, and if there was any major complaint I had about Indy 4 (and the entire Star Wars new trilogy), it was his writing. His dialogue is stilted and silly to the point of being painful to listen to sometimes. I know George has about as much money and power in Hollywood as God, but someone needs to stage an intervention. Tell him to come up with stories, like he did with the first Star Wars and Indy movies, and then hand the keyboard over to someone who’s a better writer.

I’ll obviously go see a fifth Indy movie if it gets made. It’ll take a lot worse that Crystal Skull to make me stop watching, heh. But… I just needed to register my trepidation for the internet to read. ;)
