Being sick sucks.

I is a sick fangirl.

I is a sick fangirl.

In a bit of great timing, I seem to have caught a cold. This is a semester when I really can’t afford to be sick. See, I’m taking two traditional classes, one of which involves an insane amount of reading, I’m taking a third class that requires me to write a 50,000 word novel by December 15th (I have 7500 words to write this week, so why the hell am I blogging?!), I’m teaching two English 101 classes, I’m taking my Master’s comprehensive exams next week (again, why the hell am I blogging?!), and I’m going to have to write a proposal for my not-a-thesis project on top of papers for the two aforementioned traditional classes.

Writing it all out like that makes me panic a little.

So I’ve been out of commission this week and had to call off my 101 classes. On the downside… ugh, sick. On the upside… I did finish reading Fever Crumb by Philip Reeve. Hopefully I’ll be able to write a review soon, but the stack of books I’ve already read but haven’t yet reviewed is getting precariously tall.

I hate going to the doctor for colds, because nine times out of ten, they just tell you to treat the symptoms and let it go away on its own. Thanks, guys, I could have figured that one out on my own. So, I’m going to sit here on my duff and try to knock out part of that 7500 word goal. Or I’m going to go do this on the couch:

Your esteemed fangirl this past Monday.

The Discriminating Fangirl, who is more likely to answer to Pamela if you shout it at her, is the proud owner of an MA in English, focusing on children's/young adult literature and popular culture. Because of her ample free time thanks to being gainfully unemployed, she reads voraciously. She also loves geeky movies and tv shows, reads comic books as often as she can buy them, and when she's procrastinating, she enjoys playing video games. She can be contacted at t.d.fangirl @ gmail.com and followed on Twitter at the link below.
