I’ll confess, I’m terrible about keeping New Year’s resolutions. Usually, they’re stuff like “work out regularly” and “eat healthy,” and while those are some of my resolutions for the year, I figure it’ll be easier to keep geeky resolutions. They’re more fun!
1. Read more science fiction! I tend to read a lot of urban fantasy, and while I have no plans to give up the UF, I want to read more SF, particularly hard science fiction. I have a stack of SF books just waiting to be read. It’s time to crack them open.
2. Watch ALL of Battlestar Galactica! I watched bits and pieces of the series as it aired, but I haven’t watched the whole thing from beginning to end. Luckily the Fanboyfriend has the whole series on DVD, so I’m going to catch up on it this year.
3. Read some DC comics! I’m pretty much an exclusive Marvel reader, other than Hellboy and Fables on occasion, but I’m ready to branch out into DC titles. I want to pick up some Batman, Catwoman, and Wonder Woman TPBs this year.
4. Comment more often on your blogs! Grad school is a major timesuck, but with the (hopefully) lighter load coming up this spring, I want to comment more often on your blogs!
5. Post more often on TDF! This one sort of dovetails into #4, but with the lighter spring semester, I should have more time to post regularly. And damn it, I’m going to post more regularly. Reviews, articles, all kinds of stuff!
6. Read at least 100 books again! I made it to 113 in 2009, and I want to read at least 100 again this year! I know I can do this one, and I’m starting right now, with Black Orchid by Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean, and Rob Thurman’s Nightlife.
7. Finish my novel and start shopping it around! I started writing a novel for a creative writing class, and by Grabthar’s hammer, I will finish it this year. I have a bad habit of not finishing long writing projects, but I’m going to break that habit this year.
What are your geeky resolutions?

Try and go to another Supernatural Convention since this might be the last season (*sob!*) or get enough money together to go to Comic Con.
When you say “hard science fiction” are you talking like Heinlein and Asimov or just space opera/something without elves and dragons? :P
As far as BSG goes, I just finished season 2.0 disc 1. You need to catch up so we can simulcast. ;)
Hard SF as in SF that’s based heavily on the science involved, stuff like Asimov and Clarke. Definitely not space opera or fantasy. Oh genres.
When you start watching BSG you might like to check out a pod cast called Galactic Watercooler as you go through. The three geeks who recorded the cast are pretty funny. (I used to listen to them at work the Monday following the air date.) http://www.galacticawatercooler.com/ It started out focused on BSG, but they have started covering other things as well.
