The giveaway is now closed! Thanks for entering, everyone!

Do you love Jacqueline Carey? I know I do (I thought Naamah’s Kiss, the first book in her new series, was amazing), so I’m very excited to announce that The Discriminating Fangirl is giving away three copies of her newest novel, Naamah’s Curse!

Jacqueline Carey, New York Times bestselling author of the Kushiel’s Legacy series, delivers book two in her new lushly imagined trilogy featuring daughter of Alba, Moirin.

Far from the land of her birth, Moirin sets out across Tatar territory to find Bao, the proud and virile Ch’in fighter who holds the missing half of her diadh-anam, the divine soul-spark of her mother’s people. After a long ordeal, she not only succeeds, but surrenders to a passion the likes of which she’s never known. But the lovers’ happiness is short lived, for Bao is entangled in a complication that soon leads to their betrayal.

The book will be released on June 14, but you can enter now for the chance to win one of three copies!

To Enter:

  • Comment and tell me either the most exotic, exciting place you’ve been, or the place you’d like to go the most. (counts as 1 entry)

Well, the most exotic place I’ve been so far is probably Athens, Greece. Next up on the places I’d like to visit are Turkey and Japan!
+1 I follow the blog on Twitter (@KimBea).
    Thanks for the great giveaway!

  • Rachel

I’ve been to Prauge and stayed in an old Soviet era hotel. It seemed pretty exotic at the time.

I can’t wait to read this one!

  • Anna

    Following on twitter!

I used to live in Bosnia Herzegovina and I went to Dubrovnik Croatia, which has an awesome castle looking out over the beautiful Adriatic sea. I also visited Split, Croatia which has great Roman and Dalmatian Ruins and is also on the Adriatic. Of course since I lived in Bosnia in 1995-96 right after the war it was pretty exotic. I am subscribed via Google reader.

  • Cynthia

I think one of the most exotic places I’ve been to is China. I got a chance to walk up the great wall and see the tombs in the area too. It was like being in a history book!

Also subscribed to the RSS feed, twitter feed, and posted on my blog: http://ladyartemis.livejournal.com/98747.html

    Posted on facebook.

Following blog on Twitter now (though I only read Twitter like every three months).

And the most exciting and exotic place I’ve ever been, I think, was Venice. The docks were so crowded, and there were so many languages floating through the crowd. The vendors with their cheap junk would listen for a moment before plying you with broken phrases of your own language, trying to part you from your lira. Someone else succeeded at that, though, picking my pocket to steal my last thousand lira…which I think was about 50 cents US at the time, not long before the advent of the Euro.

I lived in Ireland twice, but I’d say the most exotic place I ever visited was Rome. Good wine, good food and such nice people. I’m counting the days till Naamah’s Curse is released!

  • Elizabeth King

I have always wanted to go to Ireland, since there is a small part of me that is Irish. I think it’s a beautiful place!

The most exotic place I’ve been is Niagra Falls, but I would love to go to Thailand.

  • Russanne

The most exotic place I’ve been would have to be Orange Beach, Alabama on the Gulf of Mexico. The beach was beautiful then. I would love to go to Australia and Ireland.

  • Mallory

I went to Delphi, Greece- the center of the ancient world. It is a beautiful and surreal place.

  • Anna

Off I went around Europe… I loved so many things. St. Matthews in Budapest, Sunset standing on a bridge in Prague, Crepes and fondue in Paris, the Mercado de San Jose in Barcelona. I think the most exotic was the trip through Tangiers Morocco to Chefchaouen. The smells sights and otherworldlyness of it all was breathtaking.

  • Anna

Posted the giveaway on Facebook :)

  • teresa

I have always wanted to take the cruise down the Nile.

  • Megan

    Great giveaway!

The most exotic place I’ve ever been to is probably Oahu, Hawaii. One day we decided to go exploring away from the touristy areas, and it seemed like a completely different planet! So beautiful!

    +1 : Now an e-mail subscriber!
    +1 : Blogged about it here: http://smoonempress.blogspot.com/2010/06/you-all-know-how-much-i-love-jacqueline.html

I’ve been to Hawaii, which was pretty exotic for my usually-cold Canadian butt, albeit in a touristy way. I would love to visit Aztec or Mayan ruins, though.

Also following on Twitter as well, @of-red-and-blue!

  • Katrina

I spent a week in the Dominican Republic doing mission work on the sugar cane plantations. I have always wanted to go to the Pink Sands Resort on Harbour Island in the Bahamas, and to New Zealand to visit the areas where the Lord of the Rings movies were filmed!
    Definitely going to subscribe!

  • Amanda

I’d like to go to Iran because that is where my family is from!

I follow on twitter as well (@soysaucebunny) & i RTed the contest there :)

I have traveled to Chapada dos Viadeiros, it is a national park in Brazil with a black river that you cannot see the ground. You walk in the streets and you find amethysts and pink quartz in the ground. There is this huge crystals chain underground that people can see from satellite pictures. It is very mystical and many people of the world travel there for meditation. The small city called Alto Paraiso and the small village called Sao Jorge receives mystics from around the world and some people believe that aliens visit the place because they can see it from the sky. It is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth and I have been in the Grand Canyon that for me is just as amazing.

The feel of the city is just right, you close the eyes and you feel the earth around pulsing with this vibrant energy. It is not a man made exotic place but it is nature gifts to human kind, one of the many.

  • Linette

My son and I adventured in Egypt a couple of months ago – amazing!

  • http://daydreamsdandelions.blogspot.com/ Kim Wells

I guess the most conventionally exotic place I’ve been is either Alaska or Hawaii. Those were short trips & fun. I have been to Paris, but it was only a daytrip when we were in England & took the Chunnel train down, so it almost doesn’t feel like it should count. Key West was also nice! :)

But to be very very honest, I really like to “travel” in my backyard, & we have spent a little bit on cool furniture & a deck to make it a little vacation while at home… it’s my favorite “exotic” spot. :) And I can read awesome books there.

The most exotic place I’ve been is probably Hawaii…or Perth.

    Awesome giveaway. Good luck everyone!

    THANKS FOR THE GIVEAWAY :)

So this isn’t the most exotic place I’ve been but definitely the most life changing…as they say in Terre D’Ange…Eire! I spent a year in the fabled land of faeries and leprechauns and left it thoroughly enchanted by the beauty of the land and it’s people. An amazing adventure led to some of most wonderful memories and friends I’ve got, so anyone thinking of going across the pond, do stop over and visit the Emerald Isle.

I’d love to visit other places including Turkey, Egypt, Syria…the lands where my ancestors lived :)

    Happy traveling posters!

*I’ll be posting this on my FB pg…http://www.facebook.com/uzma.rajan*

The most exotic place I’ve been is probably Aldershot ;). I’ve led a very sheltered life. The most exotic place I’d actually like to visit (as opposed to go to on a dare) would be Gabarone.

  • http://stassjamama.blogspot.com Stassja

I’ve been to Japan, but I think all the little towns in Spain I visited were a little more romantic/exotic. We saw one place that was surrounded by cliffs, and the houses had been built into the rock, cavelike, that was really neat.

  • Vicki H.

I did a tour of China (Ch’in ;) )a few years ago and stopped in Beijing, Shanghai, Huangzhou, and Guilan. Some breathtaking sights there! I’ve never been to Europe or Australia, and hope to go there sometime in my lifetime! :) Thanks for the opportunity: Jacqueline Carey is one of my all-time favorite authors!

I haven’t been anywhere exotic, but I would love to go to a gorgeous beach, like you see in pictures, where the sand is soft and white, and the water is clear and turquoise.

I went to Dubai for Christmas which was completely exotic for me. I live in Saskcatchewan Canada where the winters are snow white and up to – 60 degrees Celcius. So spending a Christmas in Bikini in a land of great wealth and great poverty was an completely out of this world experience. The best part was spending it with the love of my life. He has been there three times before, so he loved watching my oo and awe over the craziest things. But the best part was dressing up to the nines and spending an evening in the Arabian desert. I felt a princess from another world. It was amazing.

  • June

Been to Qatar, Baghdad, and Kuwait exotic enough for ya? :)

  • Shanabanana

The most exotic place I’ve ever been is Nicaragua, but I’d like to visit New Zealand and Russia! If I could, I would love to visit all the places Jacqueline Carey created in her books, but only if I could travel with Phedre :) I own all seven books prior to this, and can’t wait to get my hands on this one!

Most exotic was Las Caletas .. a small island in the Mexican riveria. Lush plants, bird calls and dinner by candlelight at the ocean’s edge. It was a great anniversary. :-)

I once stayed at this place in Oregon in a tiny town along the coast. If I could go back there I would. It’s one of the most peaceful places I’ve ever been. I don’t remember what it’s called though :\

the most exotic place ive been to? I stayed a few months in old sanjuan, PR. the apartment I shared was made about 400 years ago, the roads of this small island, are made with ship ballast bricks brought over from the old world. there is a sense of romance and magic everywhere, a hint of the smell of the sea, and endless open possibility for adventure. being somewhat of a history buff i would regale tourists who struck my fancy with short stories of the place for the sole pleasure of their company. and according to their taste and preference we would go to eateries, restaurants or bars, never exchanging anything but our names.

I’ve vacationed in Paris twice. It is such a fascinating city. Not sure if it is exotic really. I’d consider it romantic though.
