Strangeness Abounds Goes to AnimeFest!
In the name of all things anime and manga, I attended AnimeFest’s 10th convention in Dallas, TX – and it was a BLAST. Seeing everybody having a good time (going with friends also helped with the positive feelings ^.^), people cosplaying in beautiful costumes, eating delicious Japanese snacks (pocky, rice cakes and ramune galore!), buying Vampire Knight and Final Fantasy merchandise – it was magic.
Perhaps you’d like to see a few pictures? ^.^

Waiting in line for badges with Ali, Teresa and Sean (who's photobombing very well with just his forehead)

First look at the floor at AnimeFest - it wasn't terribly crowded at this point, but it was rapidly heading that way.

I don't remember from which video game this is from - perhaps Pamela knows because she owns the game. ;)

Skull Kid wearing the Majora's Mask from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. My favorite video game out of the Zelda series.

I believe this is the main protaganist from Assassin's Creed? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. He costume was too good not to be photographed.

See Reunion Tower (the one with the ball on top)? The hotel that's connected to the tower is where the con took place.

Last but most certainly not least - my AnimeFest art badge. Who needs Tifa or Aerith when you can have Sephiroth?! The badge says "Yaoi Fan - Cloud/Sephiroth" ;D
And that’s all for this post! You can visit AnimeFest’s website at http://www.animefest.org all year round and buy your pre-reg membership in addition to getting the chance to interact with other con-goers.
Strangeness Abounds
StrangenessAbounds may be more of a truthful moniker than the author will admit to -- when she is not obsessively finding "just the right word," exploring the taste of various chai lattes or arguing over what is canon in "The Legend of Zelda," she is planning her next sushi outing. StrangenessAbounds is a writer of both fiction and non-fiction as well as being an editor and English teacher. She graduated in 2009 with her BA in English and is working towards her MS in English. She can be contacted by email.
