I totally agree with Michael about the dancing scene. He obviously wasn't hitting on her, but it was terribly awkward. I looked over at my friends and they were both looking back with confused horror/embarassment(?) in their eyes. I was like, "It's not in the book, not in the book."

Incidentally, I found this page by Googling "Harry Potter 7 part 1 dancing scene awkward", lol.

It's funny; my fiancé would probably have liked it better if they'd rushed it. He thought it was very draggy. On the other hand, I liked the pacing. To each his own, I suppose. But I'm with you, I think splitting it into two movies was the way to go.

The dance got a bit better for me after the initial moment. When he reached for her and the music started, I thought, "Oh, what the hell?" But when Harry started dancing like a goofball, it got better. :D

And YES, there is something wrong with wanting to bang a Snatcher. (that even SOUNDS dirty) But that guy? He reminded me a bit of David Tennant as the hipster Ghost of Christmas Present, LOL.

This was also my favorite of the Harry Potter movies. Cutting it in two was a good call so they didn't have to rush the pace.

However, the dancing scene didn't do it for me. I think I get what they were trying to do, I never even considered that Harry was hitting on Hermione, but for me it was the most awkward dance scene since Spider-Man 3.

At first I was like "NOOO" but then it definitely seemed like he was just trying to cheer her up. I was never an H/Hr shipper, but I always thought they were BFF to the point of platonic life partners, and she looks so frickin' depressed listening to Ron's radio and they still don't know any more than they already did before and...it was an act of silliness.

In other news, I am going to make a confession as well: that dude leading the Snatchers who looked like an indie rock star with the eyeliner and the gutter accent? I'd totally do him. He was dirty-hot.

I actually have a confession. I loved the dancing scene, but that's only because I was a Harmonian (not hardcore!!) and it warmed that part of my little shippy heart.

Silly. I leaned over to the Fanfiancé when it started and whispered that it looks like the prelude to a love scene. It was VERY awkward.

Dang, now I'm thinking of all the stuff I wanted to comment on while I was watching the movie but forgot by the time I got home.

What did you think of the dancing scene? Organic or superfluous?
