Okay, folks. It appears that I screwed up the permissions when I posted yesterday. Way to go, Fangirl!

But I’ve now fixed the permissions, so everyone can add to the Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy Protagonist List!

The wonderful members of the Paranormal Romance group on GoodReads came up with a great idea. We’re compiling a list of heroes/heroines/protagonists in paranormal romance and urban fantasy series, much like the mystery resource at Stop, You’re Killing Me! And we’d love your help!

If you have a Google account, you can log in and add entries to our list. Once the list is substantial enough, I’ll polish it up and add it as a page here on The Discriminating Fangirl.

To add to the list, be sure you’re signed into your Google account and click here to access the spreadsheet. Help us create the most comprehensive list of PNR/UF protagonists & series possible! We also welcome protagonists in science fiction romance, fantasy romance, and YA novels/series in this vein (ha!).

The categories on the spreadsheet are pretty self-explanatory. You’ll enter the protagonist/heroine/hero’s name, the name of the book series/single book, the author’s name, comments, the series’/book’s genre, and your name/nickname (so you’ll get credit for contributing).

The comments field lets you give visitors an idea of what to expect out of that particular protagonist. For example, Mercy Thompson is a coyote shapeshifter, and in the series, she deals with werewolves, vampires, and fae. So, in her comment field, I entered “coyote shapeshifter; deals w/ werewolves, vampires, fae.”

If you have any questions or suggestions for the list, please let me know! And if you’d like to get involved in the Goodreads discussion of the project, click here!

And please spread the word! We’d love to get as many readers involved as we can! Just link to this post. :)

Would people like Dr. Strange, Cleo, Dr. Fate, Zantana, Mandrake the Magician, etc. count?

Hi, Ed. I think we’re going to stick more with book series at the moment, focusing on urban fantasy and paranormal romance. Thanks for asking!
