Finn’s Review:

This is one of those series books that you have to read the previous two books in order to understand what is going on. Even then, you may have problems following along – I know I did.

Riddled with constantly shifting POVs, there is actually very little about the main characters, Heather & Dante, that you hear about. After having read the previous two books where Heather & Dante played heavily, I was really disappointed in this fact. I had a very hard time following along and frustration with that constant changes (that tags at each chapter to tell you where you were didn’t even help) had me nearly giving up on the book two different times.

This was one of those books where too many characters muddy the story and make it hard to keep a clear plotline as you read. There are so many groups after Heather and Dante (the FBI, the Shadow Branch, other agents and a myriad of supernatural characters – both vampire and fallen angel) that we hear from instead of hearing the story from their POV. There are times when we do spend time with Heather and Dante but it is very few and far between. Those scenes are key however and actually what earned this book the rating I’ve given it – those scenes (which do move the plot along) are the saving grace for this book, albeit a very small saving grace.

That said, books shouldn’t be painful to read – however, this was one of them that was.
