Just the other night, Luther fans got a happy surprise from Idris Elba. Filming for the next installment (likely a mini-series) has officially begun as of this week, which Idris confirmed via Twitter.

Michael Biehn may reprise his role as Corporal Hicks in the still-in-the-works Neill Blomkamp Aliens sequel. A few alleged quotes from the actor (via a Reddit source who attended Pensacola Comic Con) seems to confirm that he has been approached about the film and would like to be involved. Of course, nothing is set in stone at the moment, but it would fit in with Blomkamp’s idea to revive the series and give Ripley “a proper ending.”

Some new Star Wars toys are about to hit the market that will feature Princess Leia. Oh, *yawn*, another Slave Leia costume, right? Wrong! The 6″ Hasbro Black Series Leia figure is dressed in her Boushh disguise. Not a metal bikini in sight and it’s about time. You can pre-order Leia and the other figures now at Entertainment Earth. Leia will be available in June.
(Pamela: I had the original version of this back in 1983 and it was my favorite Leia action figure. AAAAAA!)

Lastly, as you all have heard, Leonard Nimoy passed away at the age of 83 last week. Nimoy touched many people in his portrayal of Dr. Spock in the original Star Trek TV series. He fought for equal pay for his fellow cast member, Nichelle Nichols, created a photography project entitled The Full Body Project to give representation to full-figured women, and was just an all-around good guy. My friend and author, Phil Hornshaw, posted this heartfelt reaction to Nimoy’s passing. Nimoy’s family asks that in lieu of sending flowers, fans may express their condolences through donations to charities that Nimoy supported.
