The weather changing to Fall, it might have you down. Don’t despair! Here are some things to look forward to!

September 12, 2010: True Blood season finale! Will Eric survive? Can Pam be awesomer? Find out this Sunday! [Editor's Note: Oops, we missed this one! Sorry about that! I was on the road and didn't get a chance to make this post happen.]

September 20-23, 2010: TV Premieres. Castle, How I Met Your Mother, Glee, Community, Big Bang Theory, 30 Rock and Supernatural (among other Geek favs) are back on our TeeVees this week.

September 28, 2010: “Batman/Superman: Apocalypse” animated feature released. I’m willing to go on record saying that “Batman/Superman: Public Enemies” was a let down. DC Animation brought back the voice actors of the 1990s cartoons—which I loved—but gave them an entirely new look and a story that wasn’t that exciting. It felt like a subpar episode of Justice League season one. So I could not have been less interested in the sequel, until Bruce Timm & Co did the one thing that could bring me back: they cast another Firefly alum. Summer Glau is making her debut as Supergirl. (If you’re keeping track at home: Nathan Fillion has played Steve Trevor and Vigilante; Gina Torres played Vixen; Morena Baccarin voiced Black Canary; and Adam Baldwin was Jonah Hex and Green Lantern). Now I have to see it, but you can bet I won’t be fooled into buying it on release day, unless it’s better than the last.

September 28, 2010: No Ordinary Family. I’ve heard good things about this series, which sounds like “The Incredibles” meets “Fantastic Four.” A family gets strange super powers. It stars Julie Benz who was awesome as Rita on Dexter and Darla on Angel and Buffy, and Michael Chiklis, who was of course also in Fantastic Four films but that’s not a great representation of his acting skills so try not to hold it against him.

October 2010: Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes animated TV series premieres (exact date unknown). I’m willing to give this a shot, and certainly I hope it builds momentum for “The Avengers” movie (Joss Whedon!!), but I’m a bit surprised that the characters seem to be… the same ones on Super Hero Squad. Way to diversify, Marvel. Check out a sneak peek.

October 31, 2010: The Walking Dead! I am so excited for this adaptation of the Robert Kirkman comics. I tried to link to the trailer in the last zombie post I wrote, but it didn’t work, so I’ll do it now. Is it Halloween yet?

November 2, 2010: Wheel of Time: Towers of Midnight book release. This is the second to last book in the epic Wheel of Time series. It’s taken over twenty years and the death of one author, but the series is finally nearing its conclusion.

November 19, 2010: “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.” The beginning of the end for Harry Potter. I don’t know what we’ll get for Christmas every year once there’s no DVDs left to buy.

December 10, 2010: “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.” Boy that girl who plays Lucy is adorable.

January Jones as Emma Frost

Spring 2011: “The Game of Thrones” TV series! I am assuming this series will start in March, but that is just a guess. No date has been announced yet. If you haven’t heard about this series yet, it’s HBO’s adaptation of George RR Martin’s fantasy, A Song of Ice and Fire series pitched as Rome meets “The Lord of the Rings.” The series will star Sean Bean, Lena Headey and Peter Dinklage. During Sunday’s True Blood countdown, HBO aired two new teaser trailers, showing their commitment to the new series. Both can be viewed at HBO’s new “Making of” website here, along with some blog posts from creators of the show. What do you think? Is this the next True Blood?

May 6, 2011: “Thor.” I have a feeling that Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of “Thor,” which stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins, will be either be awesome or awesomely bad. At least Hemsworth (who played Kirk’s father in the recent Star Trek film) looks hot!

June 3, 2011: “X-Men: First Class.” Marvel is rushing out this prequel to the “X-Men” franchise, with Matthew Vaughn of “Kick Ass” directing. I’m concerned this is because Marvel thinks “Thor” and “Captain America” are going to bomb. However, this week photos of January Jones as Emma Frost were released and her awesome mod costume is making me excited to see mutants in the 1960s!

July 15, 2011: “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II.” Subtitle: Seriously, it’s the end now.

June 17, 2011: “Green Lantern.” Starring Ryan Reynolds, this is DC Comics’ entry into what is looking to be a Marvel-heavy summer movie season. Set photos have shown that the GL suit will be CGI based, so there’s no costume to review. I hope it doesn’t look ridiculous.

Captain America Costume

July 22, 2011: “Captain America: The First Avenger.” Recently, shots of a stunt man in the Captain America costume were released on the intertubes, but so far the reaction has been mixed. What do you think? Yay or nay?

What else are you looking forward to in coming months? What are you NOT looking forward to?

Thanks for posting this! I’m gonna bookmark it!

I’m very excited to see “No Ordinary Family”. Less so about X-Men: First Class.

  • Emily

The Incredibles is like my favorite movie ever (particularly at the end when they’re just using their powers for like, track races and fighting about which exit to take), so if NOF is at all like that, I will be a happy person.

I’m only tentatively excited about X-Men First Class. I really like the little kid from “About a Boy” so I hope he’s awesome as Beast. A bit sad they made Iceman so young in the previous films because Iceman/Beast BRO-TP is my favorite part of the X-Men First Class comics.

I’m wary of X-Men: First Class, too. I love Matthew Vaughn and I trust him to make a good movie, but the X-Men series has become sort of a clusterfuck. As frustrated as I am with Hollywood rebooting everything, I wish they’d start over with X-Men. Make First Class about the original five team, like the comics.

Also, I have no idea what to think of Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw. I always pictured Julian McMahon as Shaw, but that’s my personal fantasy, haha. Bacon… well, he’s creepy enough, I suppose.

  • WereGeek

Wait, whut? KEVIN BACON? I…I just don’t even know what to say to that.

  • Damalur

Adam Baldwin voiced Superman in Superman: Doomsday, and I think Gina Torres might have voiced Superwoman in the Crisis on Two Earths movie? I hadn’t realized how many Firefly alums had been in DC projects, though.

  • Emily

Damalur: You’re right about both! I forgot about those two movies.

  • John G

Actually, it’s FOX who is making X-Men: First Class, not Marvel, they have nothing to do with it.

Fox bought the movie rights to the X-Men way back when Marvel was in financial difficulties. Similarly Sony owns the movie rights to Spider-Man.
