This Week on TDF
Your esteemed fangirls here at The Discriminating Fangirl have a lot of stuff in store for you this week! We’ve got the usual (book reviews) along with some exciting new things. Check out what we’re planning below!

Monday:
Writing About Writing
This is one of our new weekly columns! Most of the writers here at TDF like to write fiction, and a few of us have even been published. Since the fangirl/geek girl community is so full of talented writers, we thought we’d start a dialogue with our readers about writing. The first topic is Point of View, and it’ll be written by me, TDF Pamela.
Book Review: Hell Fire by Ann Aguirre
Read my review of Ann Aguirre’s fantastic followup to Blue Diablo: As a handler, Corine Solomon can touch any object and know its history. It’s too bad she can’t seem to forget her own. With her ex-boyfriend Chance in tow-lending his own supernatural brand of luck-Corine journeys back home to Kilmer, Georgia, in order to discover the truth behind her mother’s death and the origins of “gift”.
But while trying to uncover the secrets in her past, Corine and Chance find that something is rotten in the state of Georgia. Inside Kilmer’s borders there are signs of a dark curse affecting the town and all its residents-and it can only be satisfied with death…
Tuesday:
Guilty Pleasures
And this is another new weekly column! We all have guilty pleasures, those fandoms we love but are kind of embarrassed to own up to in public. WereGeek starts us off with the 1970s dystopian flick Logan’s Run.
Weekly Book Releases
Another new feature (we’re just rolling them out, aren’t we?)! I’ll let you know about this week’s speculative fiction book releases, so you can run out and buy ‘em.
Wednesday:
Book Review: Ink-Stained Amazons and Cinematic Warriors: Superwomen in Modern Mythology by Jennifer K. Stuller
Read my review of this fantastic look at superwomen in American popular culture and read an interview with the wonderful author!
Thursday:
As Yet Untitled Manga/Anime Column
This is the inaugural post in Strangeness Abounds’s new biweekly column. She’s a big otaku, and she wants to talk manga and anime with you. And she’s still deciding on a title. ;)
Friday:
Comedians You Should Know
WereGeek wants to introduce you to some comedians you might not have heard of. Actually, she’s sure you’ve heard of her first comedian, but if you’re an American, you might not know him for his comedy. You probably know him as a Vicodin-popping, grumpy doctor…
We’re looking forward to all of this new stuff, and we hope you are, too! Keep your eyes peeled for other random posts, too. We’re free spirits, you see. Can’t confine ourselves to a schedule. ;)
In fact, I’m feeling a Man Candy post coming on…
TDF Pamela
The Discriminating Fangirl, who is more likely to answer to Pamela if you shout it at her, is the proud owner of an MA in English, focusing on children's/young adult literature and popular culture. She's now not using that degree to work as a project manager for a mobile app company. She reads voraciously, loves geeky movies and tv shows, reads comic books as long as she's not pissed off at Marvel, and when she's procrastinating, she enjoys playing video games. She can be contacted at t.d.fangirl @ gmail.com and followed on Twitter @tdfangirl.
